Before Motion & Still ever existed, photography was simply Alysa’s way of holding onto those kinds of moments.
For over ten years, she captured friends, families, and couples, documenting life as it unfolded. Her approach has always been rooted in emotion over trends and connection over perfection. What started as a creative outlet slowly became a calling: nostalgic photography that feels timeless decades later.
The year we got married changed everything.
Like many couples searching for a Missouri wedding photographer and videographer, we struggled to find something that felt both timeless and affordable. Alysa deeply believes beautiful memories shouldn’t cost someone their entire savings account. That belief shaped everything that followed.
We chose a talented student photographer and kept things simple for our wedding. Then something unexpected happened.
Eric’s dad had car trouble and could not make the 10+ hour drive to the wedding. At our very rural venue, live streaming was not an option due to limited cell reception. The ceremony would have to be recorded for him to watch later. Eric’s mom brought an old 90’s style camcorder, and that was that.
A month later, we watched the footage, and it was life-changing.
The film was not cinematic in the modern sense. It was warm. Raw. Honest. It felt like an old family home movie. A documentary-style wedding film filled with real laughter, shaky hugs, and unfiltered emotion.
When the video ended, we were in tears. Alysa looked at Eric and said,
“Every couple deserves to experience that.”
